Zip-track side screen for pergolas, patios & balconies · 120 km/h wind resistance · motorized with remote
An outdoor zipper roller blind — also known as a zip screen, zip-track blind, or windproof side screen — is the most weather-resistant vertical shading system on the market. Unlike a traditional roller blind where the fabric can blow out of the side guides, a zip screen uses industrial zippers that run along both vertical edges of the fabric, locking it permanently into the side channels. The result is a tight, gap-free screen that withstands hurricane-force winds while blocking sun, glare, insects, and driving rain.
AluShed zip screens are designed as the perfect companion to our louvered pergolas — together they create a fully enclosed outdoor room that can be used 365 days a year. The screens are also widely used as standalone patio walls, balcony enclosures, restaurant partitions, and shopfront sun protection.
Tested to withstand Beaufort scale 12 winds. Zip-lock side channels eliminate the gap that lets wind catch the fabric — no flapping, no blow-out, no noise.
Premium PVC-coated polyester mesh blocks 95% of UV rays and reduces heat gain by up to 70%, while still allowing airflow and natural light. Clear-PVC variant is fully waterproof for year-round enclosures.
Industry-leading single-panel size: up to 6m width, 4m drop without seams. Larger openings are easily handled with multi-panel side-by-side configurations.
Tubular 24V DC motor with RF remote, optional WiFi app, wind sensor (auto-retract in storms), and timer-based automation. Operating noise < 45 dB.
Choose from 12 popular mesh colors (charcoal, bronze, silver, beige, white, black…) or specify any RAL color for OEM orders. Frame available in RAL 7016 / 9005 / 9016 or custom.
Surface-mount brackets work on any pergola post, concrete column, or wooden beam. No structural changes needed for most installations. 2-3 hours per side for a standard 3m wide screen.

AlShed zip screens have been installed in 40+ countries across residential, hospitality, and commercial applications:
Featured project: a 280-seat beachfront restaurant in Phuket, Thailand — 12 zip screens (4m × 3m each) on the western facade to block the afternoon monsoon wind. Project reference available on signed NDA.
Choose the Premium series with zipper-locked side channels and clear-PVC fabric. Required for coastal projects (sea breeze > 80 km/h), high-rise balconies, and exposed hillside installations.
The Economy series is perfect for sheltered home patios and balconies. Still offers 90 km/h wind rating and motorized operation at a friendlier price point.
Pair our Premium zip screens with AluShed louvered pergolas for a fully weatherproof year-round outdoor dining or lounge space. Wind sensor included for unattended storm protection.
Fabric options: Standard 5% mesh (wind + sun block, airflow retained), 1% tight mesh (more privacy, less airflow), clear PVC (full rain protection, year-round enclosure), blackout fabric (full sun block for west-facing windows). All fabrics are UV-stabilized and mildew-resistant.
A zip screen (also called a zipper roller blind or zip-track blind) is an outdoor side-screen system where the fabric is locked into vertical side channels by industrial zippers. This eliminates light gaps and prevents the fabric from blowing out of the guides, even in strong winds up to 120 km/h.
Yes. AluShed zip screens are designed for both new and retrofit installations. The aluminum side channels can be surface-mounted to pergola posts, walls, or columns using standard brackets. Most residential installations take 2-3 hours per side.
Our premium screens use UV-stabilized PVC-coated polyester mesh with 5% openness, blocking 95% of wind and rain while still allowing airflow and partial visibility. The fabric is rated to 120 km/h wind (closed position) and is fully waterproof when used with our optional clear-PVC variant.
Standard configurations support up to 6m width and 4m drop per panel. For larger openings, multiple panels can be coupled side-by-side with shared center posts. Custom sizes up to 7m width are available on request.
The following standard models are in stock. Custom configurations available on request.
